BRICK DAYS 2026 BUILDER OF THE PLAINS AWARD WINNER

How long have you been building with LEGO? How long have you been creating MOCs?

I’ve been into Lego since I was a little kid. I was given the Black Seas Barracuda for Christmas in 1991, which really jumpstarted everything. Like many AFOLs, I entered a dark age around college. Once out of school, I started buying a few sets periodically as something to do, and got deeper into it thanks to some friends. Joining KC Bricklab in 2019 really got me into building MOCs, and things steamrolled from there.

What creation of yours are you most proud of?

Usually the creation I am most proud of it the one I’ve most recently finished, especially if it involved significant research and implementation of build techniques. Presently, that is my Offshore Tug Boat, which I really think is the greatest representation of my skills as a builder. However, Kevin the Chicken will always hold a special place in my heart.

What are your favorite creations to build and why?

I primarily enjoy building boats and ships. They have fascinated me since I was a kid, and are filled with shapes and curves that are challenging to recreate with Lego. Each successive ship has been an opportunity to try new build techniques and refine those I’ve used before. Otherwise, I like to build whatever dumb joke or bad pun that comes to mind.

What was your favorite part about Brick Days?

Each Brick Days is a chance to see old friends and meet new ones, see their fantastic MOCs, and to learn new techniques and come up with new ideas. Brick Days has really become about the people, and has introduced me to so many talented builders who I now call close friends. Friends like Dan Lachcik of Windy City LUG, who I finally beat again in the Minifig Speed Build. Love you, Dan!
